So most people know from my Facebook page that this fluffy mcflooferson is named Mr Meowington. He was a stray in my neighborhood that no one knew where he came from. He showed up to everyone’s houses and everyone was feeding him. He got into a fight one night with another animal and was injured. I rushed him to the vet and got him fixed up. He’s been mine ever since. The neighbors helped with food while he healed. But we all noticed he wasn’t gaining any weight for such a hefty eater.

 I took him back to the vet and found out he had a thyroid condition. His levels were extremely high. So we went the radiation route. The first round brought his levels down a little. So we just did a second round that will hopefully do the trick. Hoping he starts to put on some weight. He is all skin & bones. The last treatment kept him from losing weight but he was only packing on a couple of ounces.  His appetite is still pretty good.

The downside of radiation treatment is he has to be confined for 4-5 weeks. Litter has to be in a separate container for 2 weeks before you can throw it away in the regular trash. Not allowed to let him sleep with you or sit on your lap. Petting should be at a minimum and always wash your hands. Wear gloves when scooping poop.... and no visitors especially pregnant people can come in contact with him. So he gets a little lonely.  He has tv though to help him through this trying time. Need to find a good show for him to binge. Any suggestions?

So we still need to find homes for the Momma cat and 3 of her kittens.  Two look like twins with mostly white fur and splotches of stripped/black areas covering back, head & sides.  They are very playful and curious about their surroundings and loooooove toys and scratching posts.

They play as kittens do, practicing their tactical combat moves on each other.

Oh noes, he's dead!! must run aways before momma notices!!

After a long day of play, it is now time for some rest.

       Hello everyone! It’s been a long time but we are coming out of retirement as kitten season is upon again.  Please always spay neuter your pets. First time moms only have a kitten or two but once they’ve had their first litter, the next batch is a bundle.  This lovely momma cat is a stray and in need of a good home. She had 5 kittens and we’ve found homes for 2 so far.  

        There have been other strays who’s stories I will be sharing soon as well.

Tia - Visiting Houseguest

 

This is Tia.  She is a guest staying with us this past weekend.  She decided to take full advantage of our hospitality and made herself comfortable by taking the best spot in the whole house, my bed.  I had to sleep on the couch.  Craven exchanged a few bites of food with Tia. Craven tried the Alpo and Tia tried the fancy feast.  Frankie, Johnny & Dolly took turns on who could get closest to Tia before chickening out.  Overall it was a good weekend and everyone got along ok.

A Rainy Friday Lunch

 

I like to come home for lunch from time to time.  Craven likes to sit next to me while I eat. He always makes himself so comfortable and it makes me jealous that I have to get up and go back to work.  Well Played Craven...Well Played.

Johnny would like to take a moment to say 'hello'.  He had an adventure a few months back. There was work being done on the house and somehow managed to wiggle out of the room he was being kept in and made his way to the construction area. He ended up falling through the floor and started his week long adventure out into the crazy world.  

He made friends with other local cats, possibly some passing skunks, taunted the dog next door and walked in snow.  All the while living under the house and coming out at night through a crawl space.  It took a week to trap him and bring him back inside.  

Once he was back inside, he showed me where the dog was he liked to tease.  He also started being more vocal to both me and the other cats.  They no longer push him around or take his food.  He is now a bit of a bad ass in their eyes.  He also is now pushing me around when he wants a toy, treats or his food.  He also decided he is now brave enough to allow me to pet him.  

October Movies

October is the time of year when a ton of scary movies are on at any give time.  It looks like Craven is trying to help Debby out with when to turn away from the television.  What a little trooper!

It's Cold Outside!

Also, my fellow trapper Gale Farkas has moved from my area and her wonderful trap went with her.  I finally found a site that sells the same trap we were using which is incredibly animal friendly.  Thank you Amazon! 

This is what it looks like.  We've actually caught a Momma along with her kittens in one of these babies!  Hopefully I will get it soon.  Thanks to Gale Farkas & Debby DeJong, the outdoor kitties have enough dry food to last them through this month.  Thank you guys for the food!

Cat-mas Tree

I put up my Christmas tree last night and decided to forgo the regular ornaments and use the cat toys instead.  I figured they'd be up in it anyways.

Johnny decides he needs to inspect the tree to make sure it's up to code.  Some of the toys fell off the branches as he's peeking through the tree.

They noticed I was watching and hid behind the tree as if I couldn't see them.  They did knock it down about an hour after it was up.  I picked it up off the floor and proped it back up.  That was around 10pm last night.

This is what I woke up to this morning around 5:30am.  Notice Dolly hiding behind the tree.  The others had bolted when they heard my footsteps.  At least they had a good time.

Mikey - Leader of the Pack

“Mikey – the oldest of the five rescue kitties. He is approximately 11 or 12 and is the most confident, and as a result the self appointed leader, of the rescue pack. Mike was very close with my father in law and really took his death very hard. He loves Dave because Dave looks and sounds like the spitting image of his Dad, who Mikey never forgot. Paula’s mother-in-law passed away and was kind enough to take in her 5 cats.  This is just one of the kitties she took in.  Let’s hope her dogs and cat help make their transition into their new home a good one.  Good Luck Paula!

Misty & Kristy were my beloved grandmother’s cats. My grandma passed away a few years ago & my family and I have been trying to take care of them, but I have two cats in my tiny condo and my mother is allergic & cannot bring them to her home. Both are fixed and frontlined so they are healthy and flee free. Both are litter box trained and they have a brand new litter box and come with plenty of food and toys. Both love pets, are very playful & sweet and just want someone around to pay them some attention. They are indoor/outdoor cats, but I would prefer they find an indoor home as I feel it is safer for them. While it would be ideal that they both go to the same “new home”, we will gladly separate them if they are offered good homes by cat lovers. If you cannot adopt them, please pass this info along to someone you think might be able to or that might know someone who will open their home to these sweet little girls.


I am willing to drive them pretty much anywhere to their new home, so no travel will be necessary on your part. I do not want to see them go to a shelter, any help you can give would be more than appreciated by both myself & my family.

Please only message me if you are truly interested, or may know someone that is, needless to say this is a very hard and heart wrenching decision & I only wish to do what is best for these two kitties.

Thank You Neighbors!

It's been a busy time around here and some of the neighbors are pitching in.  There are 2 more neighbors who are helping with the TRN (Trap Neuter & Release).  Someone left a small carrier on Gale's porch for future use and some cans of food by my back door for our outside friends.  Also on a fantastic note, another neighbor came and got Gale to help her save 2 small kittens who's mother had not returned.  They were about 2 weeks old so they were taken immediately to the SPCA where they will be looked after until they can be adopted out.  Thank you all again for the help!
